Hello, my name is Laura. I’m a professional Hair and Make up Artist.
I started working as Pixie Dust in 2012. Based in Blackpool and the Fylde coast but also happy to travel further afield.
I’ve been working in this industry for 9 years now and genuinely love the work I do. I enjoy working in a variety of different genres and I believe this gives me a wider understanding of all aspects of make up and hair. My experience includes TV and Film, Theatre, Editorial, as well as Bridal and Special Occasions.
My work has been featured in multiple media platforms including Channel 4, magazines and popular newspapers, The Grand Theatre Blackpool, The Lowry Theatre Manchester and more
I was recently awarded ‘Creative Make Up Artist Of The Year’ 2020 for both North England and Overall UK Winner by The Official Make Up Awards. It’s an honour to be recognised, especially for the second year running.
In 2019 I received my first award ‘Creative Make Up Artist Of The Year – North England’ by the Official Make Up Awards. Following on from this, I have been a guest on BBC Radio Lancashire several times with interviews and features.
My training in make up artistry includes the industry recognised, award winning ‘School Of Make Up’ Manchester. Where I gained my diploma in advanced Make Up Artistry covering all types of media make up including special effects, hair and wigs.
I am also Certified by City and Guilds in Level 2 and 3 of Make Up Artistry and Hair. As well as Level 3 Manicure and Nail Technology. I studied at Blackpool and the Fylde College where I received ‘Student Of The Year’. This has given me different approaches to learning which I feel gives me a well rounded knowledge base, which I have built upon with experience.
When working as a Make Up Artist it can be rewarding to know you’ve given somebody confidence. Whether that’s helping a bride to look their best on their special day or creating a character in theatre. Every make up is very personal to each client, meaning communication is key, so we can achieve something we are both happy with. I pride myself on being adaptable and completely dedicated to ensuring my work is of a high standard.
I always use the best quality products and well known professional brands. I like to keep on trend with up and coming products so I can advise what would suit the client best. I am also very conscious to keep the best hygiene practises in my work. I regularly keep up to date with training and ensure I follow all health and safety procedures.
Working with a variety of people in production teams and individuals. From directors, designers and actors to photographers and models. I enjoy having a creative outlet in my work and become fully involved with each production. I have a background in dance, drama and performance. This led me to develop a passion for theatre and the entertainment industry. I am able to bring my experience to each production and use my creativity to create something unique.
My experience over the past 9 years consists of make up, hair and wig styling for a variety of occasions including: Weddings, Proms and Special Occasions. As well as Photo shoots, Editorial and Fashion, Film, TV and Theatre.
